Agrivoltaics Action Group Workshop
Event Details:
Join the Agrivoltaics Action Group for a thematic workshop at the EU PVSEC Conference 2024 to explore the latest advancements and challenges in agrivoltaics. This workshop, titled “The Landscape of Agrivoltaics: In Between People and Technology,” will bring together experts, researchers, and industry professionals to discuss the innovative intersection of agriculture and solar energy.
Organisers:
ENEA (IT), NREL (US), within the framework of the IEA PVPS Agrivoltaics Action Group.
Within the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (IEA-PVPS), the Agrivoltaics Action Group has been established, led by ENEA & NREL, to create essential knowledge aimed at leveraging the potential of combined land use for agriculture and PV power generation. The goals are to 1) achieve more efficient land use, 2) increase the resilience of the agriculture sector against climate change, and 3) foster better social consensus for the development of solar energy.
Agrivoltaics is a complex topic, integrating both technology and the involvement of various stakeholders with different values and perspectives. While technical aspects are gaining attention, the people’s perspective is a relatively new focus. This event will present the social aspects of agrivoltaics from various disciplinary fields, covering topics such as energy justice, economics, policy, and landscape design. The goal is to highlight relevant issues in terms of public perception and acceptance of new technologies and to gather feedback from the audience. The workshop aims to identify new interdisciplinary, social science-based research topics.
