  • Venue: Austria Center Vienna (ACV) – Room 1.61
  • Access: Open to all registered conference participants

Workshop Overview:

This workshop focuses on the detailed environmental analysis of photovoltaic (PV) systems, with a particular emphasis on novel applications such as Agrivoltaics, PV + pollinator habitats, and Floating PV, ecovoltaics. Bringing together experts, researchers, and policymakers, the workshop aims to explore land usage optimization, environmental monitoring, and impact as well as life cycle analysis for PV systems. Participants will engage in interactive discussions and knowledge exchange to accelerate the improved environmental integration of PV technologies. Key topics include dual land usage, life cycle analysis to assess environmental impacts throughout the system’s lifespan, ecosystem impacts, PV+ system design/economics…

Speakers and Topics:

  1. Garvin Heath (NREL, USA) will present an overview of IEA PVPS Task 12.
  2. Jordan Macknick (NREL, USA) will discuss the integration of pollinator habitats within PV systems.
  3. Frédéric Lebeau (Université Liège Gembloux, Belgium) will showcase work on agrivoltaics, including agronomic findings and a modeling framework.
  4. Ashish Binani (TNL, NL) will share a Task 12 report on the carbon footprint associated with Floating PV systems.
