This Multi-Dimensional Evaluation Tool for BIPV Installations, developed by IEA PVPS Task 15, is designed to assist architects, system developers, and other stakeholders in planning and optimizing BIPV projects. It allows for a comprehensive assessment of BIPV systems across four performance categories: energy-related, economic, environmental, and optical/visual. The methodology includes a numerical rating system and a classification scheme for different BIPV installation types.
The Fact Sheet presents four case studies and highlights challenges such as data availability, standardization issues, and subjective aesthetic assessment. Despite these challenges, the tool represents a significant advancement in evaluating BIPV systems, promoting sustainable and effective integration in various architectural contexts.
