IEA PVPS Task 1 has published a new Fact Sheet on Trends in Photovoltaic Applications, providing comprehensive data and analysis on global PV deployment, market and industry developments, technology and the evolving role of PV in electricity systems.
The publication highlights several developments shaping the next phase of global PV growth, such as the expansion of distributed PV, the acceleration of storage deployment, manufacturing issues, and the increase of global penetration
The fact sheet provides a concise overview of the Trends in Photovoltaic Applications 2026 report, which revealed that global cumulative installed PV capacity reached 2.96 TW by the end of 2025, following another year of strong market growth. Around 690 GW of new PV capacity was installed during the year, an increase of 15% compared with 2024.
