TASK — 19

PV Integration Beyond Grid Constraints — Global Policy and Regulatory Measures

IEA PVPS Task 19 has published a new Fact Sheet on PV Integration Beyond Grid Constraints, highlighting how policy and regulatory measures can help enable higher shares of PV while maintaining secure and reliable electricity systems. As PV deployment continues to grow, countries are increasingly facing challenges related to limited grid capacity, congestion, changing electricity market conditions and the need for greater system flexibility.

The publication explains how countries are responding through four broad approaches: smarter grid operation, market-based incentives, storage and flexibility, and better use of existing grids. It highlights measures such as dynamic export limits, flexible grid connections, battery storage, demand response, hybrid grid connections and improved grid capacity transparency, supported by examples from countries around the world.
