On 4 June 2025, Daniel Mugnier, Chair of the IEA PVPS Programme, delivered a keynote presentation at the 33rd SFT Congress (Congrès de la Société Française de Thermique) held in Chambéry, France. The congress is a major annual gathering of researchers, industry experts, and policymakers in the field of thermal sciences and energy systems.
In his presentation titled “Solaire PV : Agilité technologique face à la transition énergétique”, Daniel Mugnier explored the rapid evolution of photovoltaic technology, its central role in the global decarbonisation strategy, and the emerging challenges of large-scale integration. He highlighted global market trends, recent advances in PV technologies, sector coupling opportunities, and the ongoing work of IEA PVPS – including key reports, collaborative research, and new initiatives such as green hydrogen hubs and agrivoltaics.
The SFT Congress offered a valuable opportunity to connect the solar PV and thermal communities and to underline the importance of cross-sector collaboration in achieving a sustainable energy future.
